Green Screen Workshop

Software: Adobe After Effects

(SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER)

Sunday, 3 July: 1:30am - 4:30pm

You can shoot anywhere when you shoot on green!

Shooting on green screens is a mainstay of the VFX industry, enabling easy compositing where other matting techniques would be too time consuming. While commonly used in Hollywood, that does mean you can’t build your own studio and achieve great VFX with no budget at all. There are restrictions that you need to know about, but once you do it’s really easy, and anyone can do it!

Topics include:

  • What shooting on green enables you to do
  • When to shoot on green and when not to
  • Lighting a green screen
  • Shooting on a green screen
  • Applying filters to remove the green from film footage

In that same year he co-founded a Cape Town based Motion Graphics studio, BitterBean Media, working there as the lead 2D and 3D animator.
