Richard Starkey began his film industry career in the first digital audio suite in SA, back in 1991.
After being headhunted, he moved into editing and trained at Cut Aways under two of the country's top offline editors where he worked on high-end TV commercials.  In 2003 Richard branched out into editing TV drama and features, and by now has worked in pretty much every genre imaginable. Later, with the advent of digital technology, Richard started grading some of his own work on Da Vinci Resolve and soon found that it was something he loved doing. He went on an advanced grading course through Blackmagic and now spends almost as much time grading as he does editing. His grading work includes  Action Kommandant, feature documentary; Shark Kill Zone, for Nat Geo channel and Kill All But The Crows, for Al-Jazeera.  His editing work includes Accident, a French/ SA/ USA feature due for release in 2016; Back to School Mom, a film for Lifetime Channel in the US; Battleground Afghanistan for Nat Geo USA, which was broadcast in 150 countries in 40 languages; Jamillah and Aladdin, a live action children’s TV series for BBC and Senior editor on Yizo Yizo 3, the award-winning SABC drama series.
